Professional Experience :

Oracle Senior Manager - Mobile User Experience - Sep 2007 - present

    • Work with a team of senior designers and usability engineers to facilitate and design Oracle's next-generation Fusion mobile products.
    • Establish and complete a research agenda that informs mobile applications. Research to date has included: heuristic evaluations of Oracle, Consumer, and Enterprise best of breed mobile applications; customer decision maker interviews, international ethnographic field research, and design related usability evaluations.
    • Create a set of mobile guidelines and design patterns that will support a consistent user interface across all mobile applications.
    • Support mobile middleware, product development and strategy to make mobile products best in class through better design and usability.
    • Present at professional conferences and publish research.

Oracle Manager - Supply Chain Management User Experience - Feb 2006 - Aug 2007

    • Manage a team of interaction designers and usability engineers to improve the user experience and satisfaction with Oracle SCM products.
    • Work with the team to facilitate and design Oracle's next-generation Fusion products.
    • Promote and direct research with customers and end users to improve and validate these designs.
    • Support SCM development and strategy to make SCM products best in class through better design and usability.
    • Train SCM product managers on a customer feedback methodology in order to ensure good designs across all product families.

Oracle (Formerly PeopleSoft) Principal Usability Engineer/Researcher - Sep 2003- Jan 2006

    • Founded the Supply Chain Management end user research program. Primary advisor to direct, facilitate and collaborate product research projects. Key research contact and liaison with customers. Initiated over 100 research sessions in 2004
    • Designed, standardized, and implemented user research to support software designs:
      • Led site visits with users utilizing Purchasing, Inventory, and Order Management.
      • Reviewed and provided feedback on product prototypes prior to end user feedback.
      • Conducted remote contextual inquiries and prototype design reviews with users of Services Procurement, E-procurement, and Inventory.
      • Conducted market analysis of internal customer data to identify core industries to cull participants.
      • Interviewed software consultants to identify usability issues found in the field.
    • Developed and standardized new research methodologies and techniques. Designed, tested, and published a technique called Remote Contextual Inquiry with Jeff English.
    • Coordinated and developed a product scorecard that includes four components: benchmark usability testing, accessibility audits, competitive analysis, and heuristic evaluation.
    • Leading a cross product team for a one-score usability summary for executives.
    • Skills: Dreamweaver, PeopleSoft customer databases, Lotus Notes.

    • Designed research projects based on client discussions with senior management at Fortune 500 and upstart companies.
    • Written over 25 proposals and project bids that address branding, marketing, international, customer experience and design/interface issues for handheld and communication technology, Internet, software, consumer goods, and media industries.
    • Managed media (e.g., newspapers, Internet), product and interface development of wireless and communication technologies, and usability research studies.
    • Developed and prioritized product requirements/enhancements and new product focuses through utilization of both qualitative and quantitative market research, customer usage and attitudinal data and competitive analysis. This includes: surveys (online, telephone, and written), in-depth interviewing (beta-tests, defining and refining of products, brainstorming, attitude assessments, etc.), focus groups, market segmentations, diaries, expert interviews, experiments, and literature reviews.
    • Performed contextual and statistical analyses, as well as provided analysis plans for outsourcing data analysis.
    • Co-authored a white paper on trends with youth and wireless technologies.
